Designer Profile: Denora

Joshua Boudreau is an emerging queer fashion designer, multidisciplinary artist and creator of Denora. Based in the vibrant city of Montréal, Joshua's creative journey is an exploration of challenging societal

norms and aims to build a bridge between the physical and the abstract. Through their work, which spans garment making, installation, performance, and sculpture, they invite viewers to question consciousness and venture into the unknown.

Design Philosophy: Denora, Joshua's brainchild, beckons its wearers to shatter the confines of objective reality and delve into the enigmatic depths of the subconscious. They believe that dissociation is a journey to the subconscious, an abstract experience often forgotten. What if we could retrieve these hidden, mysterious encounters? DENORA challenges us to explore the untapped potential within ourselves.

Signature Style/Technique: Denora's style is an homage to futuristic aesthetics, blending them with organic tones and materials to broaden our understanding of existence and the times ahead. Handwoven and handcrafted details infuse a personal touch into their designs, adding depth and uniqueness.

Influences: Joshua draws inspiration from the worlds of Thierry Mugler and Alexander McQueen. Like them, Joshua's upbringing in theatre has seamlessly transitioned into the realm of fashion. McQueen's storytelling and Mugler's theatrical background resonate deeply with their creative journey.

Achievements: In 2021, Joshua clinched a year-long mentorship with Lignes de Fuite, a pivotal moment that birthed the brand Denora. Their career took an exciting turn when they collaborated with Emile Racine, and their brand was recognized by the renowned designer.

Brand Ethos: Denora's mission is to empower wearers by tapping into the latent power of their subconscious. Trusting oneself and connecting with one's inner world can lead to a deeper connection with the world at large. Sustainability is at the core of their designs, from utilizing deadstock fabrics to offering custom-made pieces to ensure quality, longevity, and value for the wearer.

Future Vision: The vision for Denora is to expand and invest in new and groundbreaking techniques, pushing the boundaries of fashion in uncharted directions. Joshua aims to propel the brand to new heights, creating fashion that challenges norms and inspires a fresh perspective on self-expression and consciousness.
